Sassy - A751703 - American Staffordshire Terrier

Sassy is a 10 month old american staffordshire terrier mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 3/8/08.

What a pleasure Sassy was!! She is extremely playful, but when she got a little too playful as soon as I told her "no" she sat and calmed down, her tail was still wagging of course :-D

Sassy needs a family that can handle her playfulness and energy.

If you are interested in adding Sassy to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Meg - A752452 - Pit Bull Mix

Meg is a 2 year old pit bull mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 3/14/08.

Meg was found as a stray. When she passed dogs in other cages she sniffed and that was it. There was a huge dog that came out. I think it was a St. Bernard and she was a little nervous about it. She came to me and jumped on me. When the dog left she remained excited, so I had to try and calm her down.

Meg is looking for her forever home.

If you are interested in adding Meg to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Hazel - A752506 - Pit Bull Mix

Hazel is a 6 month old pit bull mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 3/14/08.

Hazel was an absolute pleasure. She was excited to be out and liked to hang out with me when I sat down. She appeared to be okay with other dogs. When she came in contact with them, she just sniffed and went her way.

Hazel is looking for her forever home.

Lady - A741438 - German Shepherd Mix

Lady is a 7 year old german shepherd mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 12/7/07.

Lady is a good dog. She does pull the leash alot, so she needs some training with that. I'm surprised at the age of 7 she doesn't walk properly, but it could be being in the kennel so long. She probably just wants to get outta there.

Lady is a cutey. She enjoys being petted and rubbed under the neck.

If you are interested in adding Lady to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Butter - A741796 - American Staffordshire

Butter is a 6 month old american staffordshire terrier. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 12/11/07.

This beauty was owned for only one month. The person said all of a sudden they had to work new hours. Hmmmm....

Anyway, their lose. Butter is a sweetheart. He walks pretty well. He needs a little prodding but after a while he steps in line. He loves and I mean loves, milk bone treats. He knows how to sit and will wait patiently for a treat.

Butter also loves to be cuddled. He's waiting for a permanent loving home.

If you are interested in adding Butter to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Randol - A741747 - Pit Bull Mix

Randol is a 4 month old pit bull mix. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 12/10/07.

For only 4 months old this little pup is a leader. He has a mind of his own and definitely uses it. He needs some training. He's only 4 months old so it shouldn't be a surprise. It was challenging to get him to walk by my side without pulling the leash. I don't even thing I accomplished my goal :( Oh well...

Randol loves to play and gets excited around other dogs.

He is looking for his forever home.

If you are interested in adding Randol to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

A741669 - Hazel - American Staffordshire

Hazel is a 7 month old american staffordshire terrier. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 12/10/07.

Hazel looks so shy in her cage but don't be fooled. We took her out and she was absolutely all over the place. She pulled, ran and jumped on all the outdoor furniture. She even tried to get a taste of our egg and cheese sandwhich. She definitely needs training, but it should be easy because she's only 7 months old.

She needs a patient owner who will work with her obediance training. She does sit a little but not for long.

Hazel is looking for her forever home.

If you are interested in adding Hazel to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Dora - A734382 - Pit Bull

Dora is a 1 year old pit bull. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 10/16/07.

Dora is a very confident independent dog. She does well on her own. She is a curious dog who will wander off. She would follow me for a minute then stop and go about her own way. She's a free spirit. She's not much of a cuddle bug but she does like to play and can get excited. We started to run with her and she loved it but then she got very excited and started to jump and nibble a little too much. She just needs a strong hand and a dominant leader.

If you are interested in adding Dora to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Alex - A734141 - Pit Bull

Alex is a 2 year old pit bull. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 10/14/07.

Alex was found as a stray. He was laying curled up in his cage with his ears all floppy. Turns out he was not feeling so well. He threw up, but it must of been a good thing for him because after that he was one playful pup. He just loves to be held. It was challenging trying to get a shot of him without him on us because the minute we stopped he would be all over us.

We tried to play ball with him but he wasn't a ball player. He's more of a love bug and lap dog.

Alex is waiting for his forever home.

If you are interested in adding Alex to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Jackie - A733516 - Pit Bull

Jackie is a 1 year old pit bull. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 10/10/07.

Jackie was found as a stray. She is extremely playful. She loves to play ball. She started to get possessive of the ball, but all we had to do was "claim the ball," as Cesar would say. We kept it between our feet and blocked it from her. Then we picked it up and threw it. When she ran back with the ball she would drop it. Yeah! Before, she would run to us and then fake us out. She would act like she was going to give it to us but then run by us. Dogs are incredibly smart and cunning!

She didn't take to puddles either. She would jump over them. I guess she didn't like getting her paws wet.

Jackie would make an incredible companion.

If you are interested in adding Jackie to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Denim - A705891 - Pit Bull

Denim is a 10 month old pit bull. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 10/15/07.

Denim is a beautiful dog. It is unfortunate that she was given up because her foster children's inspector objected to a pit bull as a pet. I guess he hasn't seen my *Kids for Pits" campaign (http://www.maxtheshelterdog.com/kidsforpits.html).

Denim is truly a playful little dog. She loves to cuddle and kiss. When she first came out of her cage she was running and pulling on the leash. But after a few times around the roof she calmed down and walked in line. The foster children are missing out on a great companion.

If you are interested in adding Denim to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Mase - A733850 - Pit Bull

Mase is a 2 year old pit bull. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 10/12/07. He was found as a stray.

Mase is a very dominant and strong dog. He needs some heavy duty leash manners. He loves to be massaged and cuddled and kissed. Actually, he demands it :)

I was only able to get 2 shots of him because he was a little obsessed with the camera. Everytime I took it out he would go for it.

Mase needs a strong owner with great leadership skills.

If you are interested in adding Mase to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Kiwi - A731629 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Kiwi is a 2 year and 6 month old American Pit Bull Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 9/28/07.

Kiwi is a very strong dog. He is also a dominant dog. There's no question about that. He did pull a lot and when we sat down to rest he wasn't interested in cuddling. It was all about sniffing and pooping for him. But, nevertheless, I enjoyed my time with him as I do all of them. I can appreciate his dominance and confidence in himself.

When we brought him back in, we passed by this other dogs cage and the other dog went nuts. After being in their cages for a long time, some dogs will develop "cage aggression," which this dog did. He barked and growled at Kiwi but Kiwi paid him no mind. The other dog was persistent, so Kiwi started to bark and growl back. It was a little scary but we managed to pull Kiwi away. Not that anything could happen through the bars, but still....

The good thing is that Kiwi didn't start a thing. He needs a strong owner, a dominant owner, more dominant than him, and definitely one that can handle his strength.

If you are interested in adding Kiwi to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

LLama - A731433 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Llama is a 1 year and 6 month old American Pit Bull Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/27/07.

What a beautiful dog Llama is.... Pits are just amazing to me :)

Anyway, Llama did have a pulling problem. He took control the minute he left his cage, but it was amazing how once he was shown that we were the leaders and not him, he quickly stepped in line. It was all a matter of a little tug and nudge here and there. He even wanted to be cuddled after that. Before, he could care less :)

Llama needs a safe and loving home.

If you are interested in adding Llama to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

King - A731881 - Harrier Mix

King is a 1 year old Harrier Mix. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/29/07.

Okay, I don't usually take out any other dog unless it's a pit but..... King needed to get out. He had an incredible amount of energy. He jumped off the ground several times. He is very hyper but it's nothing a good old fashion belly rub can't solve :) After a few rounds around the roof, he mellowed out. Thank goodness... for us !

The owners gave him up after 3 days! What???? They said they had no time. Shouldn't they have known they didn't have time for a dog in the first place?? I know, I can go on and on but that would take away from King.

King needs a home that can give him lots of exercise.

If you are interested in adding King to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

May - A731817 - American Staffordshire Terrier

May is a 1 year and 6 month old American Staffordshire Terrier. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/28/07.

May is a true beauty. She had an extraordinary amount of energy, so we decided to take her for a little spin (run) around the roof. Boy can she haul A** :)

May loves to cuddle and is extremely playful. She is searching for her forever home.

If you are interested in adding May to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Browny - A731706 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Browny is a 3 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/28/07.

Browny is a beautiful dog. Aren't they all? He was a real whiner in his cage, so we took him out right away. He has such a cute whine :) These dogs are so smart.

Anyway, Browny is a very confident dog. He likes to do his own thing and he does pull the leash a bit. He will, though, like any intelligent dog, be patient and stop for a tasty treat.

Browny was a joy to be with today and is looking for a safe and loving home.

If you are interested in adding Browny to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Hubert - A730408 - Pit Bull

Hubert is a 2 year old pit bull. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/20/07.

Hubert was very timid in his cage. He was shaking and growled at me. I sat down and gave him my back to sniff. He stretched his head as far as possible in order to sniff me. He wouldn't move his feet. He then went back to where he was laying down. I looked at him and he decided to come towards me again. He put his nose between the bars and kissed me. I then took him out and guess what? That big bugger took me for a ride. Boy is he fast, he pulled and pulled and ran and ran :)

Once outside he was so happy. He reminded me of Daddy from Cesar's pack in the way that he walked. He's so big, he waddles :) He's a true love bug and I am so happy I spent time with him today. Although he is sick (his stool was all blood) he was as jolly as could be and as playful as any other dog.

If you are interested in adding Hubert to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Annie - A730631 - Pit Bull

Annie is a 1 year old pit bull. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/22/07.

Annie is an incredible little dog. She jumped and whined in her cage for attention and of course I had to take her out. She is so cute. She walked so easily by my side and when I let go of the leash she ran for it. She galloped and spun around and jumped for joy. She was FREE!

I played ball with her. I threw it in the air and she jumped and caught it. She would bring it back and put it down. When I would try and take it she would hit it with her paw. There was no aggression. She wanted me to take it so I could throw it again.

When I went to wash the ball with the hose she would try and drink the water. It would splash her and she would perk her ears with curiousity.

She's amazing and is looking for her forever home.

If you are interested in adding Annie to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Molly - A730648 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Molly is a 2 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/22/07

Molly is a great dog. She walked by my side without any hassle. I let go of the leash and she continued to follow me. She loves treats. She needs to be taught how to sit for them though. She just helped herself to them :)

If you are interested in adding Molly to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Mr. - A728290 - Pit bull

Mr. is a pit bull. His age is unknown. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/12/07.

Mr. is such a wonderful dog. I saw a note on his kennel that said he was adopted. Let's hope it goes through. Still, this little gem was wonderful to be with. He loves treats, knows how to sit and enjoys drinking water from the hose. He's very playful and loves to give hugs and kisses :)

If you are interested in adding Mr to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Rider - A729667 - American Staffordshire Terrier

Rider is a 6 year old American Staffordshire Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/16/07.

Rider was extremely sick. He kept heaving and sneezing. I'm sure he was grateful to be outdoors, smelling the fresh air.

I let go of the leash and he did his own thing. He gave me the impression that he is use to being on his own. He's definitely not a follower. It took him a long while to even want to come look for me. Nonetheless, Rider is an amazing dog and I enjoyed my time with him.

If you are interested in adding Rider to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Jerry - A728834 - Pit Bull Mix

Jerry is a 3 year old pit bull mix. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/11/07.

Jerry was a seeing eye dog and was found as a stray.

He was a wonderful dog to say the least. He walked immediately by my side without any fuss. We did have a stand off though. I let go of the leash and walked off and he didn't follow. I guess being a seeing eye dog maybe he should be in charge, not sure how that works. Anyway, when I realized he wasn't following me, I turned back and called for him, but he just sat there. We stood facing each other for a while and then I decided to go about my business. And who should come following me shortly after, yep, Jerry. That was easy!

If you are interested in adding Jerry to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Ramona - A728698 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Ramona is a 1 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/10/07.

Ramona is beautiful!!!! I absolutely loved this dog. Of course, she pulled me for a while but eventually we got into a pack mode and walked together. She befriended one of the staff members while on our journey. She loves to chew on things. She practically ate the arm of the wooden chair and then she started on the table.

After a while I let go of the leash and she was as free as a bird. She galloped and soared and jumped and played. She followed my every move. What a wonderful pittie! It was very difficult to put her back but....

If you are interested in adding Ramona to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Dora - A717244 - American Staffordshire Terrier

Dora is a 10 month old American Staffordshire Terrier. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center since 9/15/07.

Dora was surrendered by her owners because they said she needs puppy training. WHAT!!!!! YOU DIDN'T KNOW THIS BEFORE YOU GOT HER??? WHY IS THIS A SURPRISE TO YOU???? PUPPIES NEED TRAINING!!!! DUH!!

Anyway, that felt good! When I approached Dora's cage she growled at me. She wouldn't stop, so I bent down and gave her my back to sniff. How easy that was. After she sniffed and came to the conclusion I was trustworthy, she was my best friend. It was very easy for me to take her out and for a walk. She is a puller though. BUT she listens. Several times, I just stopped and pulled her back towards me to wait and she did. Eventually she got the hint and walked by my side. She's adorable. All it takes is a little patience.

If you are interested in adding Dora to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Rex - A729460 - American Staffordshire Terrier

Rex is a 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/15/07.

This beauty was whining so much in his cage. I couldn't resist. He would whine, sit, lay down, jump and then repeat the entire number all over again. Finally, he calmed down or just exhausted himself to the point where I was able to get the leash around his neck to take him out.

Once aside he was a dream. Very easy to walk on the leash. I didn't have any problems with pulling. He did go for the leash a few times to play tug of war. He enjoys being hugged and kissed and always returns the love.

If you are interested in adding Rex to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Junior - A726396 - Pit Bull Mix

Junior is a 1 year and 5 month old pit bull mix. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/27/07.

Junior was very deceiving. He was quiet and calm in his cage. I thought, a calm dog, this is good. Okay, when I got him outside, boy was he a ball of energy. I couldn't keep him still. He didn't run, he galloped :) I had no choice but to run with him. Good exercise but it's just too hot. Anyway, I tried to keep up with him. I gave it my best. After a while he exhausted himself and started to walk by my side. Yeah!!!! I noticed he liked to dip his paws in a puddle. Everytime we were about to pass it, he would veer towards it and soak his paws. He's beautiful!

If you are interested in adding Junior to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Pete - A726800 - American Staffordshire Terrier

Pete is a 1 year old American Staffordshire Terrier Mix. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/28/07.

Pete was also very sick. He threw up as well. He just laid in his cage not wanting to be bothered. But I figured he could use some fresh air so I took him out.

He was no trouble at all. Right out of the cage he was walking by my side. After a few laps around the roof he was feeling better. We rested some and he laid down to relax. The flies were bothering him though, so he didn't get as much rest as he wanted :)

Pete is looking for a safe and loving home.

If you are interested in adding Pete to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

T-Bone - A727198 - Pit Bull Mix

T-Bone is a 1 year and 6 month old pit bull mix. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/31/07. He was brought in as a stray.

What a wonderful dog T-Bone is. He is such a good dog. At first he was walking ahead of me very fast. I tried to catch up, and when I did, we walked right by each other's side. After a while he started to follow me :)

When we stopped to rest, we cuddled with lots of hugs and kisses. He then sat by my feet and rested.

T-Bone is amazing. He doesn't bark that loud. When he tries to bark it doesn't come out loud and forceful, but it's almost like he's not sure of himself. He whines a funny whine too. I love this dog. I would take him home in a second if I could.

T-Bone is waiting for a safe and loving home.

If you are interested in adding T-Bone to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them his special A#.

Peaches - A727314 - Pit Bull Mix

Peaches is a 3 year old pit bull mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 9/1/07. She was found tied to a door.

Whoever had Peaches obviously wanted her to look mean, but it didn't work. She's a sweetheart. Unfortunately, she has already become sick. She was laying in her cage and threw up a couple of times. I decided to take her out to give her some much needed fresh air.

Peaches walked very close by my side. She didn't pull the leash either, maybe because she was too sick :( By the time she was brought back into her cage she looked a lot better. There's nothing like some good old fashion fresh air to do the trick.

Peaches is looking for her forever home.

If you are interested in adding Peaches to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Trixie - A722849 - German Shepherd Mix

Trixie is a 7 month old german shepherd mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/7/07.

Trixie was the last puppy I took out. I was about to leave and she kept barking and barking and barking. I had to take her, and I am so glad I did. What a beautiful little girl. She walked by my side with no problems. She was a little skiddish when she heard a loud bang but she's still probably trying to get use to her surroundings.

This little girl is a gem!!

If you are interested in adding Trixie to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Biscuit - A722668 - Pit Bull

Biscuit is a one year and six month old pit bull. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/6/07.

Biscuit was the first dog I took out today. She was very active. She did her business and then wanted to play. She jumped at the leash and started to pull and play tug-of-war. In 85 degree weather with no shade..... I don't think so... Do you know how challenging it is to get a pittie to stop playing tug-o-war? Very.. Usually what I do is ignore and not pull. If I don't pull, then there's no game. Most of the time they just start playing themselves and shaking the leash to death. Ha, Ha :)

Needless to say, she was so into playing that I couldn't get any photos of her. So later I saw her with another volunteer. "Hey," I said, "Why is Biscuit so calm with you and she was so playful and energetic with me?" Goes to show you that it's all about energy. Maybe she thought I was her equal... I don't know.. it's too complicated to figure out. I'm just glad I got some shots of her so you can see how beautiful she is.

If you are interested in adding Biscuit to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Coco - A722066 - German Shepherd Mix

Coco is a one year old german shepherd mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/2/07.

Coco was sooooooo easy to be with. The minute I got her out of the cage she stood by my side and waited for me to walk. Thank goodness!! What a pleasure. Coco is very docile and calm. She likes to keep going though. When I would sit down, she would wait there looking at me as if to say, "Whenever you're ready...today would be nice." ha, ha!!

If you are interested in adding Coco to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Chris - A722466 - Pit Bull

Update - 10/19/07 - Chris is still there. I'm shocked! His owners gave him up because he has "Possible Mange." My God.... no comment! He didn't have his nose so much in the ground this time. Still a dominate dog and still walks nicely by your side. He's not crazy about puddles either. He would make it a point to jump over every one that he came across :) For a dog that has been at the shelter for 2 months, he's doing very well. The staff are doing a good job of taking care of him :)

------------
Chris ia a 2 year old pit bull. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/5/07.

Chris is beautiful dog. I would say, 99% of the time his nose was in the ground, that 1% he paid attention to me :) Be still my heart!! ha, ha.

Anyway, surprisingly he walked so easily by my side. He didn't pull or anything, but... when he found an interesting puddle of pee, watch out, he wasn't going anywhere. I couldn't pry him away to save my life. What's in dog pee that's so fascinating??? HMMM :)

Chris would love to find his forever home today.

Georgia - A722723 - Labrador / German Shepherd Mix

Georgia is an eight month old labrador / german shepherd mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/7/07.

Boy, what an energetic little pup. The minute I took her out she ran for dear life. Wow!!! When we got outside, she kept going. You know, if it were just a little bit cooler I wouldn't have minded so much, but in 85 degree weather???? Anyway, I still enjoyed myself. Eventually, and I mean eventually, she calmed down. When she did get all that pinned up energy out, she was much calmer and walked somewhat by my side. What a sweetie!!

Georgia is looking for her forever home!

If you are interested in adding Georgia to your loving family visit the Animal Care & Control Center website or call 212.788.4000 and give them her special A#.

Mel - A722665 - Pit Bull

Mel is a two year old pit bull. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/6/07.

Mel loves to play with other dogs. It's unfortunate we can't let the dogs play. They can give each other colds. Everytime she saw another dog, her ears would perk, tail would wag and she'd go into her play bow.

She does listen. She seems to cower down though. It could be her former owners hit her, not sure. She also seems to be losing her hair in some spots, could be stress. Poor thing.. but you know, you would never know, she's very energetic and loves life.

Rusty - A722162 - Pit Bull

Rusty is an eight month old pit bull. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/3/07.

Rusty is so cute. One of her ears points up, and the other points down. She is a precious playful little pittie. She gave me a run for my money. Well... you know what I mean. Have you ever been with a pittie and they just want to run? It's like they're galloping like a horse. Rusty was like that today. I wish I could've let her off leash. We both would've been better off. I could rest from the heat, and she could run her butt off without hauling me behind. Ha, ha..

What a pleasure!!!

Betty - A720129 - Rotteweiler Mix

Betty is a 2 year old and one month Rotteweiler Mix. She has been at the Animal Care & control Center in NYC since 7/23/07.

I didn't even know Betty was a rottie until I got back. She is only one of two rotties I have walked and she was such a sweetheart. I have to say that usually I don't take out rotties because they are a bit big for me, but you know what, sometimes what you don't know is good for you, because if I had looked to see that she was a rottie I wouldn't have had the pleasure of her company.

What a wonderful dog Betty is. Yes, she is big but she is a gentle giant. Would you believe that she just plopped down and exposed her belly for a rub? That picture of her laying on her back is all her. Then when we were on how way back she plopped down again. I waited for her, she got up, we walked two feet and then she plopped down. This went on for a while until the staff member had to help me get her back inside. Dogs are so smart. I wish more people realized that. She was just protesting. She didn't want to go back in. Can you blame her? Not me..

Betty is a great dog who loves hugs and kisses. She is waiting for her forever home.

Peaches - A722638 - Labrador Retriever Mix

Peaches is a one year old labrador retriever mix. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 8/6/07.

I don't know if she's a lab mix....

Anyway, Peaches was a pleasure. She walked easily by my side. She walked when I walked, stopped when I stopped. No problems. Wow!! She has such a calm easy energy about her. That's the only way I know how to describe it.

She's gorgeous.

Bernadette Peters / Pit Bulls

Today was an Amazing day. I had the honor of meeting a fellow pit bull advocate, Bernadette Peters.

I told her about the Kids for Pits Campaign and she was thrilled. She already was championing it at the event. She saw some children playing with Mr. Potatoe Head, the gray pit bull, and shouted out, "Nicole, kids with Pits, take a picture." I was absolutely thrilled. I also asked her if I could take a picture of her and Danny Boy, the white and black pit, for my website and she was happy to oblige.

We'll see where this takes the campaign. Not sure but only GOOD can come from it.

The pictures of the little girl are amazing. She justed walked up to Mr. Potatoe Head, he plopped down, and she started to pet him. What idiot said pit bulls are not good with children? Idiots.... I think we just proved they are wonderful with kids, even kids they don't know. Hopefully that little girl's family will adopt him. They were interested.

Diamond - A715830 - Pit Bull

Diamond is a 4 year old pit bull. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 7/19/07.

Diamond was owned for only 6 months. Not sure why they returned her but she is terrific. One of the young boys that is working there for the summer had her outside, so of course I took the opportunity to play with her and take a few shots of her.

She was so calm with this boy. She just hung out with him. He was feeding her treats. He would throw them in the air and she would jump and catch them. She's beautiful.

Roger - A721210 - Pit bull

Roger is a 1 year old pit bull. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 7/28/07.

Roger is beautiful. The minute I took him out he fell in line right by my side. Yippie!! What a relief... I love when they just walk by my side on their own. When I sat down he gladly sat down with me. He even jumped on the ledge for a photo opportunity with me. Look at that smile, only a pitty!!! I'm so honored :-D

Champ - A721653 - Pit Bull

Champ is a 1 year and 1 month old pit bull. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 7/31/07.

Champ is a strong pup. He loves to pull the leash. Oh boy, did I have a challenge with him. He would listen to me one minute and then do what he pleased the next. Okay, I can understand that. I can be like that too.. I'll tell someone "yeah okay, you're right." and then do what I want. Ha, ha!!! I guess it goes for the doggie kingdom too.

Anyway, overall Champ was a wonder. Eventually, after he wore himself out in the heat, he did calm down and walk with me. That was a pleasure. It's hot out there!

Cosmo is so cute. 5 months of pitty joy :) This little pup was left at the Botanical Gardens. I just don't understand..... Yes, he does have a lot of energy but he's a puppy and needs some training. He loves to run and jump and play. He listens a little but needs some guidance. He loves his toys also, what baby doesn't????

Cosmos is a precious gem who's looking for his forever home.

Moe is a sweetheart. He has all that puppy energy and still managed to listen when I told him to sit. He walked by my side easily and without any prodding from my end. He loves people and loves to greet them with kisses.

Moe is waiting for his forever home. He listens and knows how to sit so not much to do here.

Duke - A719833 - Pit Bull

Duke is a 1 year old pit bull. He has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 7/20/07

Duke is amazing. I love this dog. Of course you can see he walked me today. Ha, ha! But I have to say by the end of our time together he walked by my side. I enjoyed his company. We sat on the ledge and he struggled to sit on my lap. I tried to hold him in place, but he was just a little too big. He shared lots of wet sloppy kisses with me. He gave me a top quality facial and I didn't even have to pay for it :)

Duke is blind in one eye, but that doesn't stop him from having fun and enjoying life. Dogs are just amazing, especially pits. They are just number one in my book!!!!

Roun - A720257 - Amercian Staffordshire Terrier

Roun is a 10 months old American Staffordshire Terrier. He has been at the Animal Care & Contro Center in NYC since 7/23/07.

This is one big puppy!!! Roun was very quiet in his cage. He whined a bit when I kept passing by. I was reluctant to take him out because he was so big and I thought he would just pull and pull. Turns out he has something wrong with his back legs. I'm not sure what it is. Needless to say, he walked slow and rested on occasion. He is a stubborn one. He absolutely refused to go back into his cage. And he's strong so I had to get a staff member to help. It always amazes me how fast they are able to get these dogs back in their cages. I'm too soft :(

Roun is a love bug and a ladies man. He passed the men and went for the women and shared lots of kisses and hugs with us. He is definitely underweight. You can see his ribs, but once in a safe and loving home, he's going to flourish :)

Malcolm - A720437 - Pit Bull / Labrador Mix

Malcolm is a 7 month old pit bull/labrador mix. He has been at the Animal Care and Control Center in NYC since 7/27/07.

Malcolm was a ball of energy today. It was a good thing I was able to match it because he was all over the place. But what else would you expect from a puppy? In the beginning of our walk, Malcolm lead the pack, but by the end I was the leader. Yeah!! Although, my moments as the pack leader could have been because he wore himself out from playing and running, so really he was just too tired to lead :)

Anyway, he loves people. Some he approaches with caution, but once he sniffs and gets to know you, he slobbers you with kisses, jumps and just wants to have fun.

I have to mention that at one point I let go of the leash because he was pulling so much and you know, when I walked away from him, he actually ran and followed me. I'm confused, maybe I was the packleader after all :-D

Malcolm needs a home with people who have alot of energy and have the time to give him the exercise he needs.

Unknown - Pointer/Pit Mix

I had a great time with this dog. I'm going to name him Pointer. He is only a puppy, although he looks big. I think he's about 9 months.

This little one loves to play. He ended up taking the leash from me. Ha, ha. After he took it from me he trotted around the roof and flaunted it :) Then I said, "come here." and to my amazement he actually did. I was relieved.

Pointer was a joy to be with today. He truly brightened my day.

Sheeba - A716393 - American Staffordshire Terrier

Sheeba is a 1 year old American Staffordshire Terrier. She has been at the Animal Care & Control Center in NYC since 6/30/07.

Sheeba was amazing. She walked nicely by my side and enjoyed giving kisses, although I have to say she seemed a bit hesitant. I kissed her first, she'd sniff me to make sure it was okay and then she would lay it on me. She's absolutely beautiful :)

She is very skinny. Her owners gave her up because they claim they have no time for her. Didn't they have time to feed her???? Sad... This excuse is obviously a lie..

Sheeba also had a chunk of skin that was missing from her front left paw. Often she would stop and try and lick it. That must've hurt her to walk on it...

Sheeba deserves a safe and loving home
